Dr. Major is solution focused and has over 20 years’ experience in substance abuse treatment, working with Woman, adolescents and adults.  Dr. Major also works with the Office of Mental Health Services (OMH) in NYC treating and housing individuals with SMI diagnosis. Dr. Major has worked in multiple settings, providing care in multidisciplinary settings. He has worked with incarcerated woman  in the department of corrections in treatment programs aiding in the reduction of recidivism.  He has a host of experience in individual counseling with adolescents, both inpatient and outpatient care.

Dr. Val Major is highly skilled in working with children, with a long-standing reputation for forming strong, trusting connections with young clients. His warm, engaging approach helps children feel seen and understood, even when navigating behavioral challenges or complex emotional needs. Dr. Major has particular expertise in working with children diagnosed with ADHD, offering practical, evidence-based strategies that support both the child’s development and the family system as a whole. He is equally adept at guiding and empowering parents, helping them build effective tools and confidence to support their child’s growth with compassion and consistency.

 

Dr. Major's education is in clinical psychology with a concentration in institutions and organizations. He holds a master’s degree in both human services and Psychology. Dr. Major was awarded his Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from Walden University.
