THE PARENTING GROUP IS ON HOLD UNTIL THE FALL
FREE SUPPORT GROUP FOR PARENTS
AT HOME WITH CHILDREN
DURING COVID-19 ONLINE SCHOOLING
Everyone’s lives have had to adjust over the last few weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Schools in New Jersey are closed and parents are working at home. Caregivers may be trying to look after aging adults and instruct young children simultaneously. This is placing a tremendous amount of stress on many family members who are juggling several responsibilities at once.
You may be one of these individuals who are experiencing this burden of extra responsibilities. How are you supposed to give everyone your attention without draining your own resources and energy? You may be feeling overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, depressed, quick-to anger, or completely out of control. All of these experiences are normal physical and mental reactions to over-working and stretching oneself to fill too many roles: provider, boss, partner, parent, caregiver, nurse, ….. and so on.
To help you deal with some of the stress caused by online schooling, Summit Psychological Services is offering a support group for parents. Facilitated by Drs Alison Johnson and Mike Donovan, we will be providing this free service for as long as parents need to teach their children at home.
If you are interested in participating in this support group, please use the link below. We will be available to talk with you in a support group format on Wednesdays at 2:00 PM, starting April 1st. If you have difficulty with the link please call (908) 273 5558 ext. 0.
